Environmental Policy

At luxury lodges wales our aim is to create a luxury 5 star self catering holiday destination whilst doing everything possible to make it as sustainable and environmentally friendly for our visitor experience. As part of our commitment we are members of the green tourism business scheme which provides accreditation for tourism businesses, we are also tourism ambassadors for the Cambrian mountains initiative.

Sustainability

We have currently installed a new 50kw photo voltaic ground mount system to generate our own electricity for our lodges, also we have installed a 4kw system for our domestic house where we do all our own laundry.

Wildlife

In addition to our 80 acre farm, we have constructed two wildlife ponds with free on site carp fishing in one of them, we also have our very own 2 mile wildlife walk on the farm with panoramic views over the open countryside, Red Kite’s are frequent visitors above our lodges and we keep wildlife diaries for our guests in each lodge to note down all the wildlife spotted during their stay. We have also created lots of extra wildlife habitat and also planted lots of trees which include bird boxes.

Lodge Construction

All the lodges are new and constructed by ourselves, they are built with f.s.c timber logs all from a sustainable source and certified by Trada, all lighting are led or low energy bulbs and all lodges are extremely well insulated thus allowing very little heat loss, they also have disabled access and are built and exceed current building regulations.

Water Resources

Although all the lodges are on mains water, we have constructed 2 of our own wells of which we use all the water for the lawns and shrub/ flower plantations around the lodges. The car parking areas are all graveled with porous chipping allowing natural water penetration.

Recycling

On site we have 2 recycling facility bays where everything can be separated, we also have a composting compound and also provided bins for all kitchen waste disposal.

Cycle Hire

We have a local company , which cater for all our cyclist needs and deliver the bicycles to our site.

Public Transport

Train station at Caersws is 4 miles away where a local taxi can pick up guests for arrival at luxury lodges.

Local Environment

All lodges are assimilated into the landscape and therefore create no visual impact on the countryside, they are built in small coppices and each lodge is sited in half an acre of its own grounds some distance apart from each other and give total privacy ensuring our guests have the ultimate chill out holiday experience.

Commitment to Future Sustainability and Green Action Plan

We intend to install another 20 kw photo voltaic array – plant more trees and extend wildlife habitat. close monitoring of all energy water etc.

At Luxury Lodges  Wales we also:

• encourage local partnerships with local community shop and cambrian mountain initiatives and all other local activity providers
• support local food producers and recommend local restaurants
  use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products
• collect hazard waste such as batteries ink cartridges etc
• compost all food and garden waste use low energy light bulbs.
• encourage use of our own 2 mile wildlife walk on our own land
• reduce water use, we have dual flush toilets and keep all taps under 8lts/min use
• 100% recycled toilet paper and printing paper etc
• encourage use of nature diaries in lodges
• promote local natural heritage and culture attractions
• promote good staff training and guidance on green practices
• support other green businesses initiatives (members of green traveller)
• promote visitor pay back scheme via cambrian mountains initiatives
• promote physical and health wellbeing with on site beauty treatments and on site sauna house.
• all appliances are of a rated standard
• promote local butcher and fruit and vegetables baskets and ready made food from wye cook
• encourage customer visitor feedback to enhance our current environmental policy.
